Please help Ondoy victims!

Sorry if this is being a bit tad cliche and I’m sorry if you’re being bombarded with these things but this is the least I can do to help. There are still thousands of people who needs rescuing and help and for someone who is fortunate enough be dried and comfy and is still capable to go to work today, I really have the urge to help and call everyone to help as well.

I have friends and most of my colleagues at work lives in Marikina, Cainta, QC, and Pasig areas, some of them are ok now, some are in evacuation centers, and some haven’t answered a call or text yet. I have relatives living in San Mateo, Rizal whom we can’t contact yet. Hopefully everyone’s fine.

I was repacking goods earlier and was also lurking around the net while working and found these ways to help the Ondoy victims:

1. Ways to donate to the Philippine National Red Cross via the PNRC web site

2. Compilation of drop-off points and where to donate @ burymeinthisdress.com

3. More compilations from Bianca Gonzales’ blog

4. TULONG TOMASINO!

5. SAGIP KAPAMILYA: Tel Nos: 413-2667 / 416-0387

6. They are now accepting donations at the San Juan Arena too.

I want to paint!

The Wish; 15″x20″ illustration on strathmore paper; mixed media. This is one out of my 24 thesis illustrations for a children’s book.

My thesis was probably the last set of illustrations I did using traditional mixed media. Just to give everyone a  little background, I was an advertising arts major and I used to draw and paint a lot (every single day of my 4 years stay in art school I guess). It has been 2 1/2 years since the last time I touched my pencils, brushes, and paints and I have to admit I really miss them.

My mum’s been slightly bugging me to paint something for our living room but I know she wants to me paint something really huge like 3ftx5ft type of painting and I still don’t know what to paint so I don’t know how I’ll start with that one yet. :/ Plus, I don’t know where I’ll get a canvas as big as that. Heehee.

Recently of my officemates brought up an exhibit topic asking us if we’d like to hold an exhibit somewhere and I find it really interesting. I’ve been itching to paint some personal artworks that’s not really as complex as what my mum wants but at least I’ll be able to paint again on small canvases. We’re also planning to sell the artworks we’ll exhibit so it’s really interesting and fun. Haha!

The problem is, I don’t know where I’ll paint yet.

You see, we wanted to get a little bit more creative with this exhibit so instead of using the normal canvas, we want to explore on paintings or artworks on something useful like sneakers, shirts, etc. Well, what do you guys think?

And before I end this, would you guys mind to answer a little survey?

  1. Would you be interested to buy hand-painted items/things?
  2. If yes, on what items would you it to be painted? Sneakers? Shirts? Bags? Mugs? Plates? or Plain canvas?
  3. If no, why?
  4. If our exhibit pushes through, would you be interested to come or pay us a visit?

That’s about it. :]

Military temptation

I was in Trinoma with my mum earlier. It was the first time I went there with her and my 3rd overall visit. It’s quite far from where I live so I rarely go there. The only reason my mum decided to go there today was because she needed to get some items from their store using her GC.

Well anyway, we went window shopping while waiting for my brother to finish his classes but we ended up spending the rest of our time inside Zara! And yes, I confess that I’m a Zara-freak but don’t get me wrong. I’m not a brand-conscious type of person as a matter of fact, most of my clothes are from tiange however if ever I’d buy something branded, I’d always go for Zara or Topshop. Hahaha! :/

I’ve been looking for military/navy inspired clothes for the past months (It’s because of Girls Generation/SNSD’s Tell Me Your Wish and I know it’s freakingly mad hahaha!) and earlier today, I finally found one!!! And yes, I saw it in Zara-TRF. Hahaha! I was so hyped but broke that I begged my mum to buy it for me like a little kid begging his parent to buy him a new toy but!!! but!! she refused!!!

She told me to save/invest for it however the last time I saved up for a Zara jacket I ended up buying something else instead because 1, I find it really really expensive; 2, it was sold out already; and 3, it’s a furry knitted wool long cardigan so I’m not sure I can actually wear it in a tropical country. So I changed my mind and totally failed. I wonder if I’ll change my mind with this one… hahaha.

Like everyone else, I have a pretty long list of things that I want to have. They are either gadgets or clothes, shoes, and bags. To name a few I’d like to have a:

  1. New laptop. Any brand will do really as long as I can work on it.
  2. DSLR! It seems like I won’t be buying one this year after all. I was saving up for one so I can buy one on my birthday but I need the laptop more so I’ll buy the laptop first. This one can always wait.
  3. Samsung Jet. Hahaha. if I can’t get it, I’d get a Samsung Star Wifi instead :] I bought it last Christmas :>>
  4. Military Jacket or any blazer will do. Haha. :] – thanks  mum <3
  5. Uniquely cute and comfortable ballet flats. I love flats. Most of my shoes are flats and most of them are really cute. Well, I have 2 new black flats now. I’m planning to buy a blue one next time.
  6. Ankle boots! Hahaha. Flat ones please.
  7. Headbands! I want this nice little red headband from a store which I don’t want to mention anymore. I also like Anne Curtis’ really expensive headband.
  8. KPOP &  JPOP CDs!!! I heard that GG/SNSD’s Tell Me Your Wish mini album will be released in Manila on October 2, 2009. I’ll surely get my copy. I hope 2ne1 will release their mini album in Manila too. :> Thank you friends for the SNSD cd as birthday gift. :D
  9. Shirts, blouses, and dresses.
  10. Bags. I like big bags because I carry a lot of stuff everyday. I also like a particular red laptop bag from Fully-booked High Street.
  11. Temptstation accessories. It’s one of my favourite Greenhills store. Haha.

I can go on listing everything I want but I guess these are the things I’d list for now. This entry’s getting pretty long already and I have to sleep so goodnight! :]

Stressed & really drained

Eastwood Fountain by me using Canon 20D; 090509

Honestly, the last month that I remember was July. I can’t believe September is almost halfway done and October is just a few weeks away. I’ve been away for so long that I have of things to share. Oh boy, I think this is going to be somewhat long.
