Playing with clays

Our first every polymer clay pendant’s before and after baking photos :>

I had my first polymer clay sculpting attempt last November 30. It was a non-working holiday so I met up with Den, Eiya, JV, and Ate Fae at Trinoma for JV’s despedida. Den and I have been so eager to make clay accessories for weeks and we have been watching Feye make clay orders via webcam so on the 30th we finally had our first clay experience at JV’s super far house. The pics I posted above is the result of our first try! Yes, we failed but it’s ok. We can always try again. :>

I brought my clays to work and people in my department became excited about it and sculpted some clays too. They really browsed at clay tutorials how to mold them and created a few food miniatures such as cake slice, donuts, cupcakes, carrots, oranges, mini Hershey’s kisses, and Toblerone. They even researched ways on how to cook the clays using the microwave since we don’t have any oven at the office, we only have a microwave. It was really really fun! We were able to successfully cook some clays using the microwave! I brought them home and turn them into cute little earrings! Here’s a photo of the cake slice’s finished product. :> Well, so what do you guys think?

Aside from attempting to make polymer clay accessories, I’ve been tumblring again! Since my boss blocked this blog in our office, I decided to open my tumblr once again! Lol. Oh I’ve joined the formspring.me craze too! Formspring.me and ask me anything. :]

Lastly, I’ve been in a phone hunt lately too. I need to replace my beloved Samsung D900 slider phone because I’ve been bringing it in and out of the repair shop for the past 6 months now. Do you think I should switch to a touchscreen phone (Samsung Star Wifi) or a smartphone (Samsung Omnia Pro B7320)? Yes, I’m a Samsung fan. Heehee.

I want to paint!

The Wish; 15″x20″ illustration on strathmore paper; mixed media. This is one out of my 24 thesis illustrations for a children’s book.

My thesis was probably the last set of illustrations I did using traditional mixed media. Just to give everyone a  little background, I was an advertising arts major and I used to draw and paint a lot (every single day of my 4 years stay in art school I guess). It has been 2 1/2 years since the last time I touched my pencils, brushes, and paints and I have to admit I really miss them.

My mum’s been slightly bugging me to paint something for our living room but I know she wants to me paint something really huge like 3ftx5ft type of painting and I still don’t know what to paint so I don’t know how I’ll start with that one yet. :/ Plus, I don’t know where I’ll get a canvas as big as that. Heehee.

Recently of my officemates brought up an exhibit topic asking us if we’d like to hold an exhibit somewhere and I find it really interesting. I’ve been itching to paint some personal artworks that’s not really as complex as what my mum wants but at least I’ll be able to paint again on small canvases. We’re also planning to sell the artworks we’ll exhibit so it’s really interesting and fun. Haha!

The problem is, I don’t know where I’ll paint yet.

You see, we wanted to get a little bit more creative with this exhibit so instead of using the normal canvas, we want to explore on paintings or artworks on something useful like sneakers, shirts, etc. Well, what do you guys think?

And before I end this, would you guys mind to answer a little survey?

  1. Would you be interested to buy hand-painted items/things?
  2. If yes, on what items would you it to be painted? Sneakers? Shirts? Bags? Mugs? Plates? or Plain canvas?
  3. If no, why?
  4. If our exhibit pushes through, would you be interested to come or pay us a visit?

That’s about it. :]
