Good-bye Tektite

Written on April 5, 2008 | Under the work

Our agency will move out of the Philippine Stock Exchange Center building and that’s all we know… really… we heard that we’ll move out around the 12th or the 14th of April but then again, we’re all just hearings rumors and stuff so the moving out of Tektite thing isn’t really clear to us until yesterday when our boss told us that we are moving out that night. It gave me a shock… actually, the whole creative department got shocked by it. Imagine moving the whole office to another building in a night… it was like… whoa.

So we really did moved out last night. Well, the ones who remained in the office after work actually moved out, including me. It was so surprising the we are not emotionally prepared leaving Tektite yet, like what I’ve said, it gave us a shock and some people wasn’t even aware of it! We started packing our things out around five o’clock in the afternoon. I packed my things while working on my Back to school Powerlane modules. The packing forced me to discontinue my work since I have to dismantle my computer unit when it was already around seven or eight in the evening. We were supposed to go home around nine when out boss came in and told us that we will move out, literally. So yep, we were the ones who carried office boxes, LCDs, CPUs, UPS, office chairs, etcetera etcetera down to the vehicles that will transfer those things to our new building, Antel Global. We were the ones who moved them up the new office as well. And, guess what, most of us are GIRLS. One of the most unforgettable thing I’ve carried last night was our Department head’s G4!! IT WAS SO DAMN HEAVY. SWEAR. Hahaha! We were able to settle things down around twelve midnight already. Of course our boss fed us with…. JOLLIBEE MEALS and we were able to finally go home around one in the morning.

This morning when I got there, everything was almost settled already, almost ready to work but of course everyone polished the new seating arrangements, putting things in their places, and cleaning up. We were able to return working on our projects after lunch. The first day wasn’t as smooth as other regular working day since our phone lines and DSL connection resumed around five in the afternoon already. Can you imagine working without internet? It IS hard. I was able to finish my Back to School Powerlane anyway and was able to finish constructing my structure for my Waltermart NE Mead Johnson Post dress up earlier tonight. Too bad, I wasn’t able to finish it and turned down and overtime from our head. I honestly felt bad about it but I only told him the truth… that I can’t work tomorrow not because of our Puerto Galera outing but because I have to look over my grandmother tomorrow.

Anyhow, our new office is twice as big as our Tektite unit. Really. However, I don’t know… I’m not yet that comfortable with it… Maybe because of the new seating arrangements and the new room atmosphere (since we are now sharing room with the IT department and they like the room the be so brightly lighted and we don’t — we don’t even open our lights not unless we really have to!) So my eyes really have to adjust with the new set up, which might eventually lead me to bring and use my glasses while working. Oh, we have pics! I’ll upload it maybe next week? Hehe.ü
